Airport Overview

Situated four miles (6km) west of Nice, Nice Cote d’Azur Airport (NCE) is a bustling regional airport that receives nearly 10 million passengers each year from destinations all over Europe. Direct flights to Nice Cote d’Azur Airport are available from London, Paris, Dublin, Moscow, Rome, Vienna, Helsinki, Geneva, Bucharest, Athens, Brussels, Dubai, Monaco, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Warsaw, Tel Aviv, Casablanca, St Petersburg, Doha, Istanbul and many other cities, including transatlantic destinations such as Montreal and New York City.

This airy and light-filled airport is known for its efficiency and fast processing times, making it a popular choice for tourists bound for Cannes and Monaco, and the delights of the Riviera. With good public transport connections and friendly staff, Nice Airport sets the standard for service in the European travel market.

Terminal Transfer

There are free shuttles between Terminals 1 and 2 and the car parks every five to 10 minutes between 4:30am and 12:30am.

Getting into Town

Train: There is no train service from the airport, but there are a few within a mile (1-2km). TER has express trains to Mandelieu, Grasse and Ventimiglia, and trains to Nice run every 20-39 minutes, and cost €1.40. It’s about a 20-minute walk from the terminals, or you could take a taxi. SNCF has trains from Nice Station to many destinations, including Marseille, Les Arcs, and Ventimiglia.

Bus: There are buses to nearly a hundred different destinations. Bus No. 98 departs from Terminal 2 to central Nice (every 20 minutes between 8am to 8pm). Bus No. 99 departs for the Nice Direct Railway Station from Terminal 1 (platform 1) and Terminal 2 (platform 4) every 30 minutes from 7:50am to 8:50pm. Both buses cost €4. There is also a bus (No. 23) to the TER railway station, just get off at the second stop “Gare SNCF St Augustin”.

Taxi: There are taxi ranks at Gate A1 in Terminal 1 and Gate A3 at Terminal 2. Typical fares to central Nice are €22-€30 from 7am-7pm and €27-€32 at night.

Car Parking

There are eight car parks at the airport. P9 is the most economical for both terminals at €7. P2 and P3 (Terminal 1) and P5 (Terminal 2) have direct access to the terminals and charge €14. G1 and G2 have extra security and charge €25, while P8 (Terminal 1) is the best long-term option at €44. The car parks are serviced by a free shuttle.

There are several information desks located in each terminal.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: There are banks, ATMs, VAT-refund desks and currency exchange offices in each terminal. Internet kiosks are available at €2 for 15 minutes, €3 for 30 minutes or €5 per hour.

Luggage: The airport offers luggage-wrapping services for €8, as well as left luggage facilities in each terminal for €5 per day. There are also luggage porters (€3 per bag) and baggage trolleys (€1 refundable deposit) to assist passengers with heavy bags.

Conference and business: A number of VIP and club lounges offer business services such as Internet access, fax and telephones, newspapers and refreshments.

Other facilities: Prayer rooms, meeting points, vaccination centers and pharmacies.

Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi sessions of up to 30 minutes are available throughout the airport. There are also Internet kiosks dotted throughout the airport, although the service isn’t free.

Shopping: Nice airport offers a range of options from perfume, cosmetics and fashion, confectionery and toys to books and magazines. There is also a selection of regional souvenirs, including delicious Provencal food and French champagne. Duty-free shops have the usual selection of alcohol, tobacco, cosmetics and watches.

Food and drink: There are bars and fast-food restaurants in each terminal, and each contains at least one good sit-down restaurant. Most of the food available is French, with sandwiches, pastries and coffee making up for the (refreshing) lack of the usual McDonald’s and Burger King. Le Riviera in Terminal 1 has an elegant atmosphere and a Mediterranean menu, while Le Badiane in Terminal 2 has great views and delicious Nicoise cuisine.
