Ever wonder what airline offers the best flight to get you to the best destination in the U.S.? And once you’re there, what is the best hotel for your trip? Conde Nast Traveler crowned the best U.S. city, airline and hotel in the magazine’s 2009 Readers’ Choice Awards and the winners are:

Best U.S. City: San Francisco. The city by the bay took the honors for the 17th year in a row. Charleston, South Carolina, came in second and Santa Fe, New Mexico rounded out the top three.

Best U.S. Airline: Maybe it’s the mood lighting, maybe it’s RED, the new in-flight entertainment system, or maybe it’s that flying with them is just plain fun – whatever the reason, it’s no surprise to use that Virgin America was named the best U.S. domestic airline for the second year in a row. JetBlue Airways took the number two spot, followed by Midwest Airlines.

Best U.S. Hotel: Kentucky has the Louisville Slugger, bourbon and the Kentucky Derby, but now the Blue Grass State can add one more notch to its list of prized possessions: the 21c Museum Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky was named the best U.S. hotel by Conde Nast readers. The Peninsula in Chicago and the Mandarin Oriental in Boston were ranked second and third, respectively..
