The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Chicago has received the go-ahead from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to spend $182 million on a Chicago O’Hare International Airport expansion.

The money comes from airline passenger ticket taxes, according to officials. The money will be used to pay for two new runways, renovate an existing runway and build a new passenger terminal.

The FAA approval will allow Chicago to begin the design and planning phases of the project, but major airlines still refuse to help pay for construction until a project re-evaluation is completed.
