If you’re a fisherman you innately understand the best way to find fish is to follow the seabirds, see there they swoop and hover. The same principle applies to celebrity watchers. If you want to seek out the stars, watch where the paparazzi go. Here, courtesy of the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board are some places they tend to travel:
- Stars have a way of hiding out at airports, mostly in airport clubs. But they’ve got to grab their bags at some point (or have someone else do so). Baggage claim at LAX is the place to be. Watching a celeb and intruding upon their privacy are two separate things. This reporter once saw Joe Namath at a Delta club in Birmingham. He wore the requisite baseball hat and sunglasses. I figured he did that for good reason and went back to my book.
- The Ivy Restaurant is one of LA’s best celebrity dining venues. Best place to spy the comings and goings is curbside. That’s where they await valet parking to get their cars.
- Sunset Strip. Yeah, really. The mile-and-a-half slice of clubs, boutiques, restaurants and the like regularly lure stars. Il Sole and the Roxy tend to be a couple of places they congregate.
- Carbon Beach is a bit of a magnet for the rich and famous. It’s that piece of Malibu beach that stretches from Carbon Canyon Road to Malibu Pier. Access to the sand can be had through walkways at 22132 and 22664 Pacific Coast Highway.
- As they say on Sesame Street, “everybody eats” – stars included. Studio City Farmers Market is where more than a few of them do their grocery shopping. Celebs like to bring their families to the market, especially the petting zoon. Sunday morning 8am – 1pm is the time.
