Ljubljana Airport, or Ljubljana Joze Pucnik Airport, is Slovenia’s international airport. Located north of the capital city Ljubljana, it’s the country’s busiest airport, serving around 1.5 million passengers per year.
A small, neat and clean terminal building, Ljubljana is attractive and pleasant to use. As with most airports, during busier times there may be delays and long queues; however, most of the time, checking in and boarding is generally quick and painless. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Although offering only a small assortment of shops and restaurants, Ljubljana Airport has a marvellous Visitor’s Terrace from which passengers can watch planes taking off and landing, as well as some beautiful artworks in the passenger terminal.
Both arrivals and departures are located in one small terminal.
Getting into Town
Bus: A bus trip to town takes approximately 45 minutes and costs €4.10. Coaches depart hourly between 5am and 8pm on weekdays and every two hours between 7am and 8pm at weekends.
Taxi: Taxis hailed on the street (just outside the terminal building) charge a fortune compared to standard European rates – about €39 for a trip into town. Those requested by phone are relatively cheap.
Airport parking comprises 3,200 bays across open-air parks and multi-storey undercover parking. Open-air bays cost €1.90 for an hour, €5 for four to eight hours and €10 per day up to four days, after which there is a charge of €5 for each additional day. By contrast, multi-storey parking (just in front of the passenger terminal) charges are €2.20 for one hour, €6.50 for four to eight hours and €13.10 per day up to four days, with a maximum fee of €6.50 per day thereafter.
There’s an information desk in the departures hall, next to the passengers registration counter. There is also a tourist information desk in the arrivals hall near the exit, which has an abundance of free maps and brochures.
