If you’re flying home from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) after a Caribbean cruise, and are connecting to with a flight on discount airline Southwest www.southwest.com, you don’t have to lug your heavy checked luggage between cruise terminal and airline counter.
A company called Bags To Go www.baggagecheckin.com is working with Southwest and the Transportation Security Administration www.tsa.gov to ease the trip a bit. Bags To Go will take care of the heavy lifting. Take advantage of a trio of options:
– Plan ahead by making a Bags To Go reservation after booking your Southwest flight. Go to www.baggagecheckin.com and click “Cruise Straight to the Gate.” After you get off the ship, hand your luggage to a Bags To Go agent. You’ll find hem right after Customs. Check your bag, and get a boarding pass for your flight;
– On your way to your cruise, before boarding the ship, see a Bags To Go agent at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. There’s a counter in Terminal 1, next to baggage claim carousel six;
– Come ashore and take in a bit of the area by buying the Bags To Go service at the port. You can hand in your luggage up to 12 hours in advance of your flight’s departure. Again, Bags To Go agents are located in the area immediately past Customs. And again, you can get your boarding passes there.
The next time you see your luggage, Bags To Go says it will be at your final destination. Makes it easier to carry on board your flight by carrying along some of those fragile souvenirs you found while tooling about the Caribbean.
