Denver International Airport (DIA) is the latest airport to introduce new advanced x-ray machines.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has installed 28 Advanced Threat Identification X-rays (aTIX) in the largest deployment of the new technology so far.

Developed by Smiths Detection, the devices have already been launched at Albuquerque and Baltimore/Washington International by the TSA.

The machines scan carry-on bags and offer TSA officials multiple views in one go, while also using algorithms to detect any dangerous or prohibited items.

Mark Laustra, Vice-President of Homeland Security for Smiths Detection, said: “We are pleased to see aTiX technology deployed to Denver International airport.

“Denver now has an advanced screening technology platform that will serve their passengers well into the future.”
