Last year was an interesting one for travel. We saw an up in fees and a whole slew of vacation sales, security changes, and alliance acquisitions. The nation watched the Miracle on the Hudson, and prepared themselves for new TSA regulations. Travel companies developed iPhone applications, and airlines went green. So what does that mean for 2010? USA Today posts eight reasons why we’ll see bright spots ahead in air travel this year.

Economic recovery
Due to a decline in business travel, IATA has kept a close eye on statistics, and reports that the worst is over, and that passenger demand is slowly rising again. Extra orders and delivery of air crafts also “book world airline capacity by 2.8 percent,” according to David Grossman.

Wi-Fi
We saw free holiday wireless internet on airlines like Virgin America (partnering with Google), but 2010 just may be the year for wireless internet to become available on most domestic flights.

Registered Travelers
Although the descent of the registered traveler comes at a time when security is being seriously heightened, we may see it reappear in the coming year. If so, it will be much easier for business travelers to come and go without the hassles of frequenting the entire security process.
