Next time you’re in Hotlanta, carve out some time to see the place where media gatekeepers ply their craft. We’re talking about cable news here folks, specifically CNN.
If you’re looking to be at the epicenter of the action on any given day, this is the place. It’s where much of the world turns when things come unglued out there and you want to try to make sense of what’s happening.
CNN headquarters is located, appropriately enough, at One CNN Center. That’s in downtown Atlanta, across from Centennial Olympic Park and not far from Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola.
Fifty-five-minute guided tours depart approximately every 10 minutes – save for major holidays. There’s an age-dependent fee here, and it’s best to reserve your place at least 24 hours in advance. Do that by calling 1-877-4CNNTOUR.
If a peek behind the curtains isn’t enough, there are VIP Tours, where guests get to meet CNN and HLN on-air newspeople.
After seeing how news is made, you might take a short walk over to World of Coca-Cola. The newest exhibit is 125 Years of Coca-Cola in the Pop Culture Gallery and featuring a 48-foot mural. The Coca-Cola folks will even show you the Vault of the Secret Formula. Learn the story of the secret, the taste-bud friendly alchemy that has driven competitors crazy. The secret formula itself, however, will have to remain precisely that: a secret.
