New services are to begin at Asheville Regional Airport (Web site: www.flyavl.com) in November, it has emerged.

David N Edwards Jr, Airport Director, told Pisgah Mountain News that Delta Air Lines would add a flight to Atlanta, and US Airways would begin services to Charlotte, North Carolina.

“Unlike many airports our size, we now appear to be gaining back some flights,” Edwards said. “That’s the rosy part.”

The new flights mean a passenger capacity increase of 6.8 percent at the airport, which recently spent $7 million on upgrade works.
