With a nickname like The Natural State, you’d expect Arkansas to earn it’s title with a treasure trove of mountains, countryside state parks and scenic byways — and rest assured, this southern state does. From the falls and rivers to its 2.5-million acres of national forest, Arkansas has plenty of nature for visitors to enjoy. Add in a dash of history (this is the state that gave us General Douglas MacArthur, Bill Clinton and the Little Rock Nine) and pop culture contributions (Johnny Cash, Al Green and John Grisham all hail from Arkansas, too), and you have a destination you won’t want to miss out on exploring.
