While the debate continues over whether or not people should travel under the swine flu outbreak, travel companies understand the concerns of travelers and more airlines and hotels are offering rebookings and changes to previously planned trips.
If you have plans to travel to Mexico, but you’re uncomfortable taking your trip as planned, hotels and resort operators are relaxing their cancellation policies in an effort to give customers some flexibility.
We did a quick scan of the largest hotel chains and resorts in the Mexico tourist areas and found plenty of refunds, rebookings and reassurance for travelers.
Here’s a look at what some Mexico hotel and resorts are offering travelers who want to change or cancel their trip:
— Starwood, which includes the Westin, Sheraton and W brands, is waiving its cancellation penalties at Mexico resorts for arrivals through May 6.
— Marriott International and Intercontinental is waiving its cancellation fee for guests who cancel their Mexico hotel or want to leave early.
— Wyndham and Hyatt Hotels will waive cancellation fees for guests traveling in and out of Mexico.
We expect that more hotels will relax their policies on changes or cancellations and we’ll update this list as soon as we have more information. In the meantime, if you have plans to travel to Mexico and you want to rebook your trip, it’s best to call the hotel or resort directly for information.
