San Jose City Council has authorized continued funding for the city airport’s improvement program. A vote on Tuesday (August 14) sanctioned the issuing of $825 million in general airport revenue bonds, which will be put towards renovation projects over the next three years.

Terminal A is to be expanded, and the construction of the North Concourse will be completed.

The funds will also be put towards commencing development of the new Terminal B, and improving airport parking and roadways.

Chuck Reed, San Jose Mayor, told the San Jose Business Journal that the renovation was vital for improving the city’s economic prospects.

“Having a world-class, modern airport is critical to Silicon Valley’s economy. With this funding, we can build an airport for the future and provide better service for our residents and businesses,” he commented.

“The financial sector recently gave our airport project a strong vote of confidence by reaffirming the airport’s excellent credit ratings.”
