The Greek Isles have long topped travel wish lists, mostly for their views of the azure Aegean Sea, sand-swept beaches and historic sites. Santorini is one of Greece’s most popular islands, noted for its iconic white-washed buildings topped with blue domes. The island welcomes visitors with everything from wineries to archaeological sites, and after watching a stunning sunset in the village of Oia, you’ll find a hot nightlife scene waiting for you in Fira.

Aside from this popular island, you’ll find other isles like Crete, Hydra and Skiathos are worth a visit. Crete is the largest Greek island, best suited for those who enjoy hiking and visiting historic sites. Hydra, meanwhile, has preserved its natural beauty by restricting high-rises or motorized vehicles on the island. Likewise, Skiathos is another haven for natural beauty, though this pine-laced isle is most coveted for its beaches. Of course, there’s no real need to choose between these Greek islands; you could easily island hop your way across the Aegean by plane, ferry or sailboat.
