Take on Music City in 2013 with one of these tours courtesy of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Take a backstage tour of the Grand Ole Opry. See where country stars like Martina McBride and Brad Paisley prepare to step on stage at one of the world’s premier performance venues. The tour guides are country music savvy and will show you the Opry’s themed dressing rooms. Contemplate the historic circle of wood from the original Grand Ole Opry venue, Ryman Auditorium, where legends like Hank Williams and Keith Urban have sung. This is a must-see for any country music fan. Tours start at 10:00 a.m. and run throughout the day.

Experience Music City from the deck of the General Jackson Showboat, a paddlewheeler on the Cumberland River that sports a quartet of decks. You can cruise with the General in the afternoon or the evening. The former serves up a lunch buffet, the latter a three-course meal and a stage production; both options will let you gracefully glide down one of America’s great waterways.

Getting to Nashville is easy. Nashville International Airport is one of the best-connected, most innovative airports around. It has about 380 daily flights, live music, local eats and boutique bargains. Southwest Airlines is the airport’s primary airline.
