Yesterday, Disney reached its goal of getting 1 million people to volunteer in exchange for a ticket to either Disneyland in Anaheim, California, or Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The promotion, which was announced this fall, and began on January 1, gave prospective travelers 10 weeks to sign up to volunteer for the day, and receive one free pass to either Disney Park.

The “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day” works jointly with HandsOn Network, a volunteer organization that certifies whether a person has officially signed up and performed his or her volunteer duties. All volunteering must be complete before you receive your free pass. Projects range from beach clean-ups in Puerto Rico to housing construction in Pittsburgh.

Volunteers have until December 15, 2010 to complete their service and redeem their ticket.

Registration for the program is now closed, but you can still volunteer your services with HandsOn.
