The wealth of celebrities who call California home certainly know how to pamper themselves, but that doesn’t mean the Golden State’s A-list treatments are only for the rich and famous. From wine baths to mineral water hot springs, there are plenty of ways for the average visitor to get a taste of the good life with locally inspired spa treatments. Check out four of our picks.

Unwind with wine

Boasting Napa Valley and Sonoma County wine countries, California is one of the country’s top destinations for thirsty vino-philes looking to sip at the source of their favorite vintages. Wine isn’t just for drinking in California, though: it’s also used in baths and other spa treatments as a rejuvenator. At Vino+Therapy Studio on California’s Central Coast, your skin and body are treated to manicures, pedicures and massages that incorporate wine extracts from local vineyards. Plus, you can also sample the local wines and take a tour of nearby wineries as part of your experience.

Get muddy

Do you like to get dirty? At California’s Solage Calistoga, they give getting dirty the spa treatment with their signature Mud Bar, which incorporates the area’s mineral-rich volcanic soil into their spa services. The Mudslide Experience is a three-part series that starts off with a mineral clay, volcanic ash and essential oil mask, followed by a soak in geothermal mineral water and finished with some time in a vibration chair to help you relax.

Heat up

California is bubbling over with hot springs, and you’ll find spas offer everything from the luxury treatment to the under-the-radar experience. At the Calistoga Ranch Spa in Napa County, you’ll experience lavish outdoor garden showers, mineral water-infused treatments and your own private soaking tub where you can dip into the region’s geothermal waters. Down in Desert Hot Springs in Southern California, you’ll find a low-key, Zen-inducing experience at Miracle Manor, a quiet mid-century modern gem where you can float the day away in the mineral water pool.

Indulge yourself

California is the home of the rich and the famous, after all, so you could always relax as the elite do with the ultimate spa experience. At the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay near San Francisco, you’ll enjoy views of the Pacific Ocean from the bluff between soaks in the intimate Roman mineral bath or treatments like the Ocean Mist Stone Massage, which includes a mimosa sugar scrub, a mimosa oil application under a Vichy waterfall and a massage with heated stones.
