Sand, sun and cocktails – need we say more? Here are six great beach bars to hit on your next U.S. ocean escape.

Beach Tree Bar, Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

The cocktails, live music and Hawaiian sunsets can’t be beat at Beach Tree Bar on Hawaii’s Kona Coast. Head to the outdoor lounge and refresh yourself with a Tom’s Pink Shirt, made of fresh strawberries, guava liqueur and house-made sweet and sour.

Paradise Cove Beach Cafe, Malibu, Calif.

Get into a California state of mind at Paradise Cove Beach Cafe, where you can legally drink right on the beach (a rarity in Southern California). With plenty of sand and lounge chairs on the shore, you can spend the day soaking up the Malibu sun with a cocktail in hand.

Nikki Beach, Miami, Fla.

Looking for luxury on the beach? Look no further than Nikki Beach in Florida’s South Beach neighborhood. Rent a cabana, daybed or teepee and sit back as the hip music, beautiful people and libations flow.

Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, San Francisco, Calif.

Enjoy one of at least seven freshly brewed Maverick beers as waves break against the California coast at Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, where the patio offers the best seats in the house. The live music at this surfer-friendly establishment might also entice you onto the dance floor – after a few beers, of course.

The Surf Lodge, Montauk, N.Y.

Chill lakeside in the Hamptons at The Surf Lodge, where the outdoor deck beckons with brightly colored daybeds and lounge chairs. Live music, DJs and stiff pours add to the laid-back atmosphere.

Flora-Bama, Pensacola, Fla.

This eclectic bar in Pensacola is a quintessential dive with cheap drinks, live music and bikini contests. Their most notable event, though, is the Interstate Mullet Toss, held every April. Don’t start growing out the mullet just yet, though; this mullet toss refers to fish, and participants try their hand at tossing mullets across the state line from Alabama into Florida.

Where’s your fave U.S. beach bar?
