Airport Overview

Ekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport is the fifth-largest international airport in Russia, and the largest regional airport. It serves as the main gateway to Siberia and Ural, both major business centers, and is close to the Trans-Siberian Railway, which has a station in Ekaterinburg. Flights to Ekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport come from a number of cities across Russia, and a few in Europe and Asia.

Ekaterinburg is one of the largest cities in Russia, and is famous for its many theaters, libraries and museums. It’ll take 30–40 minutes to get into town, but if you can, it’ll be well worth exploring.

Ekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport has been renovated in recent years, and as it’s currently operating below its capacity of eight million passengers per year, you won’t need to queue for too long.

Terminal Transfer

Terminal A (domestic arrivals and departures) and Terminal B (international arrival and departures) are both in the same building. The building is small, so getting between terminals shouldn’t be a problem. You’ll need to go through immigration and passport control before catching a domestic flight, which can take a while.

Getting into Town

Train: The airport station is 1.2 miles from the terminal building. You can catch a bus or taxi there. From the Koltsovo station there are four trains per day – 6 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. They all go to the central Ekaterinburg station (Sverdlovsk-Passazhirsky). The trip should take about 30 minutes and cost approximately RUB 40. You can buy tickets on the train.

Bus: Bus No. 1 goes from the airport to Koltsovo Station and Ekaterinburg Central Station, and runs regularly from 6: 50 a.m. until 11 p.m. Bus 167 goes from the airport to Ekaterinburg Bus Terminal between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. You can buy tickets at the ticket office in Terminal A.

Car Parking

The general parking lot has 360 spaces and is directly in front of the main terminal building.

Information Desks

There are two self-service information kiosks in the landside area of Terminal B, where you can check your flight details. The Tourist Information Service also has a small desk in the main terminal where you can make travel and accommodation arrangements, buy maps and souvenirs, or pick up tourist information pamphlets on the city’s events and attractions.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: There are currency exchange facilities in the International Terminal, and ATMs throughout the building. There is a post office in Terminal B.

Luggage: Baggage-wrapping facilities are available on the ground floor of Terminal B. If your baggage is lost or damaged, make a complaint at the Lost and Found desks in Terminal A.

Conference and business: There are business lounges in Terminal A and Terminal B. They have television, magazines and newspapers, and telephones. Food and drinks cost extra – you can choose a meal and drink from the set menu – but use of the Internet is free. There are also scanning, printing, fax and photocopy services.

Shopping: There is a small duty-free section in the International Terminal. Otherwise there’s not much – just the usual pharmacy, newsagent and the like. If it’s a shopping spree you’re after, you might want to head into Ekaterinburg city.

Food and drink: The VIP lounges offer set meals for a cost. There are also a few cafes and coffee shops dotted throughout the terminals, both before and after security.

Other facilities: There’s a medical center in Terminal A, with free medical aid. International travelers can leave warm outdoor clothes in the cloakroom in Terminal B, where there are changing rooms for men and women.

Wi-Fi: There’s free Wi-Fi access in the business lounge in Terminal A. Video-Internet Department is located on the ground floor of Terminal B (International Terminal). Use of a computer with Internet access costs RUB 100 per hour.
