Airport Overview

Split Airport is one of the busiest in Croatia, especially at weekends during the summer season when tourists flock to the beach resorts on the Dalmatian Coast.

Located near the city of Trogir, the airport is the third-largest in the country, processing more than 1.2 million passengers every year. Flights to Split Airport are available on a number of major carriers direct from European hubs such as London, Amsterdam, Rome, Frankfurt and Paris.

Though small in size, the airport has a reputation for being efficient, with quick turnaround times for baggage and security even at peak times. They’re also expanding, with a second, larger terminal expected to be finished by 2014.

Terminal Transfer

There is only one terminal at Split Airport, so there’s no need to worry about transfers.

Getting into Town

Train: There are no train or rail services from Split Airport.

Bus: Bus No. 37 runs from Split to Trogir, with a stop at the airport in between. You can take the bus into Split, but the bus station is several kilometres from the town centre so you’ll need to take another bus or find a taxi from there. The bus departs every 20 minutes during airport operating hours and costs HRK 10 (£1).

Croatia Airlines operates its own bus service to Split Airport, timed to meet all scheduled flights by that airline. It stops in Split at Obala Lazareta, which is only a short walk from the intercity bus station, rail station, and ferry harbour. At HRK 30 (£3.50) per ticket, it’s more expensive than the public bus but much more convenient.

Taxi: There are metered taxis available at the airport, and the journey to Split costs between HRK 150-250 (£17-£29), with higher fares in the evening. There are also long-distance taxis available from Airport Transfer Croatia, going as far as Dubrovnik.

Car Parking

There is a large car park outside the terminal building with bays for nearly 400 cars. Parking is free for the first 15 minutes, HRK 7 (about £0.80) per hour for the first seven hours, and HRK 49 (nearly £6) per day. There are discounted daily rates for long-term parking, and you must pay in cash.

Information Desks

There are information desks on both levels of the terminal. The lower level desk is near the entrance outside of security, and the upper level desk is in the international departures lounge.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: Bank, post office, currency exchange, ATMs, internet kiosks.

Luggage: There is a lost-luggage counter in the terminal open 6am to 10pm.

Conference and business: The international business lounge offers business services like faxes and Internet.

Other facilities: A VAT-refund counter, tourist information desk, international business lounge and baby-changing station.

Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi is free.
