Airport Overview

Along with Del Norte International Airport, Monterrey International Airport (MTY) is the major hub for traffic to and from Monterrey, in northeast Mexico. The airport has three modern terminals which, although small, process about 5 million passengers each year.

Monterrey is considered one of the cleanest and safest cities in Mexico, and the airport shares this reputation. The airport is frequented by a large number of Mexican business travelers and the modern facilities are kept in great shape.

While most of the airport’s traffic is domestic (coming from cities such as Mexico City, Cancun, Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, Tijuana and Oaxaca), flights to Monterrey International Airport are available from several cities around the United States such as Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Miami.

Terminal Transfer

There are free shuttle services between terminals, operating every 20 minutes from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Getting into Town

Train: There are no train or subway services from the airport.

Bus: There are several bus services going from the airport to downtown Monterrey, including Autobuses Coahuilenses, Transportes de Norte, and Autobuses del Noreste. You can buy bus tickets in the domestic arrivals area of Terminal A and near the main information counter in Terminal C.

Taxi: You can catch taxis from outside the arrivals areas of Terminals A and C. There is a board listing the prices at the taxi kiosk, and you can buy tickets there to avoid getting ripped off by pirate taxis. The trip into Monterrey takes 35-45 minutes.
