Airport Overview

Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) is located between Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point in North Carolina. The airport operates almost 60 flights per day to cities across the United States, including Atlanta, New York, Chicago, Detroit and Miami.

There is a great selection of shops at the airport including a PGA Shop, for all those golfing enthusiasts. Piedmont Triad is also well serviced by transport options including buses, taxis and hotel shuttles. For those driving to and from the airport, Interstates I-40 and I-85 are right on its doorstep.

Although security procedures tend to take a significant amount of time regardless of which airport you’re in, Piedmont Triad is still a great one to choose if you want to spend less time at the airport and more time at your destination. It’s reasonably small, but still well serviced and well connected through major airlines. Plus, the roaming Airport Ambassadors, each equipped with an iPad, are a great help.

Getting into Town

Taxi: Triad Transportation (tel: (336) 668-9808) provides taxis at the airport. The Triad Transportation desk is located on the lower level of the terminal building. Fares to downtown Greensboro cost about $25 while a taxi to Winston-Salem runs to about $50. The taxi fare to High Point will set you back $40. A $3 surcharge is added if there are more than two passengers. There are also a number of free hotel and motel shuttles.

Bus: The Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) operates a shuttle to and from Piedmont Triad International. The shuttles run every 30 minutes or so. There are four PART Shuttles that transport passengers to Piedmont Center, Burnt Poplar, the PTIA Airport area and Pleasant Ridge. Visit the PART website  for route maps.

Car Parking

The multilevel parking garage is directly across from the terminal and the easiest parking option at the airport. Surface parking lots are available for long-term parking and are located across from the terminal building and next to the parking garage. There is a free shuttle service connecting the surface lots to the terminal. Short-term metered parking bays are available directly in front of the terminal. There is also an overflow parking lot located north of the terminal, which is services by airport shuttles.

Information Desks

The Airport Ambassadors are all equipped with iPads to assist passengers. There are also three information booths.
