Mobile boarding passes

Online check-in is available from 24 hours up to 60 minutes before scheduled departure. You will need to print out your boarding pass after checking in, or download the mobile app (iOS or Android). For added peace of mind, check out Cheapflights.com’ guide to 10 things to do before your flight.

Priority boarding

Passengers who pay for their carry-on bags ahead of time are given priority while other passengers are awarded Zone 3 or 4 (no priority). You can also receive priority if your buy the WORKS or by being an Elite member of the EarlyReturns program. If you are a person needing special assistance or traveling with small children, you are invited to board earlier than other passengers at no added cost.

Flying with children

As long as your infant is over 7 days old and under 2 years old and is traveling with someone who is at least 15 years old, you are not required to purchase a seat for them and can carry them in your lap free of charge. Once a child has their second birthday (24 months and older), they are no longer considered a lap child and a seat must be purchased at normal adult rates in order for them to travel. You will need to book pre-selected seats to be able to sit together, and prices vary by seat location. For more information, see the Kid Zone.

Seating for infants and children

If your child is to travel in his or her own seat, you must buy a ticket and may bring a safety seat approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In this case, most safety seats that are approved for use in motor vehicles are acceptable for use in aircraft. Seat sizes range between 17.4 inches on Airbus A319 flight to 16.5 inches on Airbus 321 flights. You can also check in one car seat and one stroller for free, and this is not considered part of your normal baggage allowance.

Unaccompanied children

The unaccompanied minor service is available for all domestic flights for a fee of $110 per leg. Unaccompanied minors are not accepted if their flight includes a connection to/from another airline. The service is available for children aged between 5 and 14. Children aged between 15 and 17 can also use the service, but it is not compulsory. Children under 5 years of age may not travel alone. There are further restrictions outlined at here.

Flying while pregnant

There are no restrictions when expectant mothers can fly. Cheapflights have prepared an information for expectant mothers checklist here.

Group bookings

Group amenities are available for 10 or more people traveling together to a common destination. The Frontier Airlines Group Travel program offers the following benefits:

  • Group fares provide everyone with one price on the Economy Fare Option.
  • Name changes are allowed. The first one is free for group tickets, and a name change fee may apply for additional changes.
  • A deposit holds your reservation until ticketing is due, which is 60 days before travel in most circumstances.
  • Only non-stop/direct flights can be booked.
  • A $5.00 non-refundable booking fee applies to each passenger and is due and payable at the time of acceptance.

Contact the Frontier Airlines Group Travel Department to receive a quote on groups of 10 or more by emailing groups@flyfrontier.com or by calling 1-888-601-4296.

Disabled access & medical equipment

If you’re traveling with a medical or mobility device, Frontier Airlines offers pre-boarding, deplaning and airport assistance. You can provide advance notice of any needs you may have by calling 1-801-401-9004 or on the “Traveler Details” page, by clicking on “Add Special Services” and selecting all the options you need. Wheelchairs are accepted on all flights all but only one can be accepted in the cabin. If space is limited, it will need to be checked. Mobility and medical devices don’t count toward carry-on limits. Federal regulations require spillable (wet cell) and non-spillable (dry cell) batteries to be disconnected from their device unless the mobility aid has an effective design to prevent unintentional activation. For extra information about flying with medical aides, please take a look at Cheapflights.com’s guide to traveling with disabilities and guide to traveling with medication to help prep for your trip.

Pets and service animals

You can bring small pets (domesticated dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, or small household birds) within the United States and flights to Mexico and the Dominican Republic (dogs and cats only) inside the guest cabin. Frontier Airlines does not require a health certificate for pets traveling in the aircraft cabin, but certification may be required by authorities in the destination country. A maximum of 2 pets per container is permitted, but only one container per guest is allowed.

Fees are $75 per segment. In addition to the travel container for your pet, you are allowed either a personal item (8”H x 14” W x 18” L) OR a carry-on bag (10”H x 16” W x 24” L). An additional fee will apply for the carry-on bag. Pets cannot be checked as baggage.

Traveling with a service animal, including emotional support animals, is free as long as they meet requirements and you bring an animal ID card, a harness with appropriate ID, and provide verbal assurance what the animal has been trained to do. A health certificate is not required for service animals unless mandated by the jurisdiction of your destination. For further information related to traveling with pets and service animals, check out Cheapflights.com’s guide to pet travel.
