When Is the Best Time to Visit Iguassu Falls?

Iguassu Falls has a humid subtropical climate, and hot temperatures and rainfall are constants throughout the year. Temperatures throughout the year range from 15 to 30 degrees Celsius, while the constant rain ensures there is enough water flow to keep Iguassu Falls the stunning waterfall that it is.

Tourist season hits its peak between January and October. Despite the heavy rainfall during these months, tourists come steadily to see the falls at their best. The dry months of November and December, on the other hand, don’t see as many tourists since less rain means less dramatic sights at the waterfalls. Although the first ten months of the year are peak tourist months, it pays to visit during this time to see Iguassu Falls at its best.

Why Visit Iguassu Falls?

One of the most majestic natural wonders in the world, the stunning sight of Iguassu Falls sits on the border of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. Also known as Iguazu Falls, the world-famous Iguassu Falls is 269 feet (82 m) tall and features a total of 275 drops.

Visitors can experience the falls from both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides of the border, though many will argue the best views are to be had on the Brazilian side. From this vantage point, visitors have unobstructed views of both the upper and lower falls, as well as the U-shaped Devil’s Throat.

Iguassu Falls is part of Iguazu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with pristine subtropical rainforest. While the falls are undoubtedly the main attraction of the park, visitors can also enjoy sights of more than 2,000 local plants and wildlife like monkeys and giant anteaters.

Travellers can visit the falls and the surrounding park on their own, or they can join one of the many guided tours that include boat trips and riding off-road vehicles through the park.
