A couple service reps had to assist us all. One of the issues was that you had to stand a certain distance from the luggage scale/conveyor in order for it to work properly. Maybe tape outlining the area to stand would help? The other problem was that it scanned our IDs, but kept asking for us to input info; the rep overrode this so that our luggage would process.
