Very crowded flight. Staff brought refreshments regularly and the food was surprisingly good. But checking was very slow and they allowed way too many people with large suitcases on board making onboarding and off-boarding very slow and chaotic.

Travelers planning a visit to Ohrid should ensure their passports are valid for at least six months beyond their intended stay in North Macedonia. U.S. citizens and many other nationalities can enter North Macedonia without a visa for stays up to 90 days within a six-month period for tourism purposes. However, visa requirements can vary based on nationality, so it’s essential to confirm the specific entry requirements for your country before traveling.
Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport (OHD) is the main airport serving the Ohrid region. It offers seasonal flights from various European cities, with increased frequency during the summer months, which is the peak tourist season. For more regular and year-round flight options, travelers often fly into Skopje International Airport (SKP) and then travel to Ohrid by bus, car, or domestic flight. Booking flights in advance is advisable, especially if you plan to visit during the busy summer, when the town hosts numerous cultural and music festivals.
Upon arrival in Ohrid, be mindful of customs regulations, particularly concerning the importation of specific items. North Macedonia, like many countries, has rules to protect its environment and agricultural sectors. These include restrictions on bringing certain food products, plants, and seeds into the country. Your luggage may be checked at Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport (OHD) for such items. To ensure a smooth entry and to support the preservation of North Macedonia’s natural beauty, it's advisable to review and adhere to these customs regulations before your trip.
