Located in the stunning northeastern regions of Ontario, Timmins was originally a mining town. From beaches to beautiful lakeland nature reserves, as well as a welcoming urban downtown area with great bars, places to eat, and cultural attractions this city has so much to offer visitors. Kettle Lakes Provincial Park is a wonderful place to visit during your stay in Timmins. This park was created by glacial movement, which resulted in the formation of twenty distinct lakes. The park is a very peaceful place, and has several great hiking trails that you can explore if you are a keen walker. Dana-Jowsey Lakes Provincial Park and the Gillies Lake Conservation Area are two other places of great natural beauty in this part of Ontario. Ski fans, meanwhile, are sure to love the Kamiskotia Snow Resort which has slopes and activities for skiers of all ages and abilities. If you would like to learn more about the heritage of the city, then be sure to pop in to the Timmins Museum and National Exhibition Center, which is a small and quaint building filled with fascinating exhibits.
The main public transport links in the city are provided by Timmins Transit buses. These buses will take you to all of the key destinations in town. You can also take advantage of the specialised tour buses to get to the parks and nature reserves, and other areas of interest. The city has a rail station, too, so you can explore further afield if you like. Renting a car of your own is a great option if you want some independence, whilst you can also take advantage of the many taxis and limousines, which are dotted throughout the streets.
Timmins Victor M. Power Airport (YTS) is one of Ontario’s largest airports, and it is located a short drive from downtown. Rent a car, take an airport shuttle bus, or take a taxi to get to your hotel once your flight arrives. If you want to arrive in style, you can also rent a limousine to take you to where you need to go.
