Central Alabama is growing fast: a new automobile plant, increased tourism (the Alabama Shakespeare Festival is a huge draw), and other inducements are bringing an increasing number of travelers to the area. To keep up with the pace, the Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) is offering good connectivity – real and virtual.

First, the air service. You can fly nonstop from MGM now to Atlanta (IATL) on Delta Connection, to Charlotte (CLT) on US Airways Express, to Bush Houston Intercontinental (IAH) on Continental Express, or to Memphis via Northwest Airlines. Four major hubs; a quartet of connection opportunities.

As for virtual connectivity, Montgomery trumps many of the larger airports in the country. That’s because Wi-Fi is free at this airport. No charge. Other aerodromes would do well to copy MGM’s flier-friendly ethic.

One of the places you can sit and surf the net, or get some work done while waiting for a flight, is the new Montgomery Muggs coffee shop. Creative coffee, carry-on food.
