Airport Overview

James M Cox Dayton International Airport (DAY) is located 9 miles (14km) from Dayton’s central business district. Dayton, Ohio, is known as the birthplace of aviation as it was from the Huffman Prairie in Dayton that the Wright brothers made some of their first flights.

Dayton International Airport is well connected in Ohio and the surrounding states. It is close to the intersection between Interstates 70 and 75. The airport is also only a short flight from most popular destinations in the United States. With its great location and wealth of food, drink and shopping options within the terminal, Dayton International is a convenient and pleasant airport to use.

James M Cox Dayton International Airport prides itself on being at the top of the United States’ 90-minute air market, meaning that most domestic destinations can be reached from Dayton International in just 90 minutes.

Terminal Transfer

There is only one terminal.

Getting into Town

Taxi: Taxis can be found at the taxi starter booth in front of the terminal building. There are a number of taxi companies that serve Dayton International Airport. It generally costs between $30 and $40 to get from the airport into town.

Bus: There are no public bus routes. However, a number of shuttle companies offer services between the airport and town.

Car Parking

Parking is within walking distance of the airport. There is a valet parking option, a short-term parking garage and two long-term parking options, credit-card parking and economy parking. The first 30 minutes in the short-term garage are free; thereafter it costs $3 per hour or $18 per day. Valet parking costs $10 for four hours, $2 for each additional hour or $20 per day. The blue and red long-term parking options are connected to the terminal via a pedestrian walkway or there is a courtesy shuttle. Charges start at $2 per hour and the daily rate is $12. The economy car park is connected to the terminal via a courtesy shuttle that runs every eight to ten minutes. It costs $2 per hour with a daily maximum of $6 and a weekly rate of $36. Paying for parking with a credit card that is swiped on entry and exit can also get you lower parking rates.

Shopping: Shopping at Dayton International Airport is somewhat limited. The Dayton Marketplace stocks a couple of newspapers and magazines as well as some gifts and gourmet food items, otherwise there’s a CNBC Express kiosk, a CNBC Store and Heritage Booksellers.
