The Grand Canal (Canalazzo)

The Grand Canal (Canalazzo) – The Grand Canal is Venice’s main waterway and splits the city in two. Much of the city’s activity is centered around the canal, which is lined with elegant palazzo. The best way to explore these Renaissance buildings is aboard a vaporetta. You can walk across the canal in only three places: the bridges at the station, Rialto Bridge and Academia Bridge. Gondolas are always crossing and can be a very romantic option.
