One of the premier ski meccas in Europe, Val d’Isere offers some of the best on- and off-piste skiing in the world. Val d'Isere Insider Information

  • Val D’Isere has been selected to host the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 2009; an honorable distinction for the resort due to the fact that the championships haven’t been held in France since the early ‘60s. If your planning on visiting Val D’Isere during the first two weeks of February, be sure to book your Val D’Isere flights and hotels far enough in advance to beat those who plan on being in town for this Alpine event.
  • Val d’Isere, one of France’s most popular ski resorts located just three miles from the Italian border, is home to some of the finest, most well-maintained slopes in Europe. Located in Savoy, Val D’Isere is also home to Saint Bernard of the Alps, the patron saint of mountain dwellers, and Baroque art glorifying Saint Bernard can be seen in the church of Val D’Isere.
  • Did an unexpected blizzard blow into town the day you were planning on hitting the slopes? Fear not: There are plenty of other activities to ensure that your Val D’Isere trip wasn’t booked in vain! If your trip to Val D’Isere happens to fall over the third week of April you’ll be in town for the Adventure and Discovery Film Festival, and every Thursday throughout the winter, Val D’Isere hosts Nuites Rouges with impressive fireworks and outdoor activities that’ll entice and enchant visitors of every age.

Lyon St Exupery Airport (LYS): The airport is located 137 miles from Val d’Isere.

Grenoble Airport (GNB): Your Val D’Isere flight will most likely touch down at Geneva Airport due to its more convenient proximity to the resort. The airport is located 112 miles from Val d’Isere and busses leave from the airport to the resort frequently throughout the day.
