Tombs of the King
Despite the name, no kings are buried at this site. The Tombs of the Kings is actually the final resting place of 100 Ptolemaic aristocrats. The tombs, which are located about a mile northwest of Paphos harbor, were created between 3 BC and 3 AD. The site is an impressive archeological attraction. The tombs are carved out of solid rock, some with Doric pillars and frescoed walls. A church called Paleoekklisia has traces of Byzantine frescoes and also shares the site, where excavations continue.
