The fortress of Saint George’s Castle offers a great view of the River Tagus and the Alfama medieval district below it. The walls surrounding the castle were built during the 11th-century Moorish occupation. The castle sits atop a hill guarding the Tagus, where you can walk the esplanades and climb the ramparts. Wander among the olive, pine and cork trees that decorate the grounds. During the day, learn about Lisbon’s history by watching a multimedia show.
