The charming inland town of Hisaronu has boomed into a popular vacation destination bristling with hotels, bars, restaurants, shops and tour operators. Flights to Hisaronu arrive in Dalaman, where vacationers intent on exploring the region and enjoying an active vacation can easily keep themselves occupied. Hisaronu is centrally located on the "Turquoise Coast" and is only a short dolmus (local taxi) ride from the busy center of Fethiye, the seaside resort of Oludeniz and other numerous sites of interest. The town itself is a bit of a hodge-podge of buildings, but the surrounding area offers a ruggedly beautiful landscape, ideal for walkers, and a coast filled with secluded bays and coves accessed through winding forest paths. Being set at high altitude the town also has the advantage of being cooler and less humid.

Hisaronu Insider Information

  • There’s no better place to start your Hisaronu travel than the outdoors. To catch the finest views of the Babadag Mountains and the Dead Sea, keep your camera close and go paragliding. Similar to parachuting, paragliding keeps you soaring in the air, but with a more controlled descent. You can stay above the world for as long as 30 minutes, and at 6,600 feet, you won’t believe your eyes. The sand and water below you will melt into an abstract pot of color, and your gentle slope will bring you closer and closer to the earth at a pace that allows you to take in everything in your own time.
  • If you’ve never been scuba-diving before, don’t worry: There are plenty of options to learn on your travel to Hisaronu. For novices, most places will allow you go explore a deep swimming pool for a few hours to get used to the sensation of your body being under water for so long. There, you can learn the required skills to have a successful adventure, and as soon as you’re done, you’ll be ready for the real thing. A boat will leave the dock in Hisaronu, and you’ll dive 30 feet into the sea among exotic fish and plant life. Explore the ocean floor and all it has to offer by opening your eyes to experience a new world under the surface. Most companies offer a morning dive and an afternoon dive, and allow friends and family to join you on the boat, even if they aren’t participating.
  • Skip the repetitive souvenir stores and head straight to the place that will turn your memories into a beautiful and memorable investment. Ozgold, a family-owned district that sells gold, diamonds, and watches, maintains an authentic and relaxed atmosphere that lets you know you are in good hands. Hospitality is their forte, and while you’re browsing for the perfect piece of jewelry, you’ll find plenty of heartwarming people to talk to and drink with. The family’s workshop in the back of the store allows the owners to fix, polish, alter, or create whatever your heart desires.  Their professional attitude compliments their personal approach, and their sheer knowledge of the materials they sell will set you at ease. If you do purchase a piece, make sure to safely stow it for your return Hisaronu flight.
