Suomenlinna Fortress
Suomenlinna Fortress is a military monument, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the home of 800 Finns who live in renovated barracks. The fortress was built during Swedish rule in the 18th century, and the island site now has six museums, galleries, restaurants and cafes, and beach and nature areas to explore. The fortress was once a strategic military shipyard with one of the biggest dry docks in the world, but you can now take a guided walking tour or enjoy a jazz show or theatrical performance.
