More useful links for Glasgow
The enormous art collection donated to the city by Sir William Burrell in 1944 is Glasgow’s top cultural draw. The collection consists of an impressive 8,000 pieces of art, including sculptures, drawings, medieval tapestries, paintings and Arabian artifacts. Some date all the way back to the 15th century. Near the unassuming building that houses the collection in Pollok Country Park, you can find the Pollok House. This Edwardian house is home to another fine art collection, this one of Spanish paintings by artists such as Goya and El Greco. The home and collection were once owned by the Maxwell family, who donated both to the National Trust in 1966.
