Reasons to fly to Corfu Town

Corfu Town was historically the topic of debate between Italy, France and Britain, but this struggle for ownership has also contributed to the town’s eclectic mix of architecture, style and culture.  Considered by some to be the most beautiful town in Greece, Corfu is adorned with cobblestoned streets, elegant Venetian detail and rows of gardens that provide the locally grown produce and herbs. Visitors in Corfu Town will delight in the town’s relaxed atmosphere, long meals and undisturbed evenings under the stars.

Corfu Town Travel Information

  • Don’t expect to see or hear the word “Corfu” while you're there. The Greek name is Kerkyra (or Kerkira) both for the town itself, and for the island.
  • The patron saint of the island is St Spyridon (Ag Spiridon) who is said to have healed the town of the plague.  His relics are held in the beautiful church of St Spiridon and his casket is paraded on Palm Sunday, Easter Saturday, August 11, and the first Sunday in November.
  • Visit Garitsa Bay where you can take refreshment in one of the local tavernas, and watch the locals playing boules.
  • Feta cheese, made from goat’s milk, is a well known favorite.  Try kefalotiri which is a harder drier version of feta cheese and can be grated like parmesan.
