The larger of Shanghai's two airports, Pudong International opened in 1999. It currently has one terminal, though a second is being built and there are plans for a total of four terminals. Rail: The Maglev Train, a magnetic levitation train and the fastest in the world, connects the airport with metro line no.2 at Longyang station (journey time: eight minutes). The station is situated next to the airport and is connected to the terminal by a bridge. Work is under way on the underground metro line no. 2, which will link Pudong and Hong Qiao International airports. This should be completed by 2010, in time for the World Expo.
Road: Taxi: Taxis are available and passengers should make sure the driver uses the meter; passengers must join the correct queue for the desired destination; queues are determined by journey duration (journey time to Shanghai: 25-40 minutes). Bus: There are five bus routes which serve different areas of Shanghai. Airport bus no. 1 connects Pudong International Airport with Hong Qiao International Airport (journey time: 30-40 minutes) and airport bus no. 2 runs to Shanghai Exhibition Centre. Other routes run to Zunyi Road, Dongjiagwan Road and Shanghai Railway Station.

There is a three-floor park garage with space for more than 3,000 vehicles and a surface parking lot for short- and long-term parking in front of the terminal building.

Money and communications: The airport has a bank, bureau de change, as well as a post office, ATMs, telephones and Internet bars.
Eating and drinking: There are various restaurants, coffee shops and bars.
Shopping: Shops at the airport include gift shops and duty-free in the Departures hall. There is a shopping mall on the third floor of the terminal.
Luggage: Baggage storage and lost property facilities are available in International Arrivals.
Other facilities: There are baby change/feeding rooms. There is a pharmacy in the shopping mall, on the third floor. Transit beds are available on an hourly basis.
