Murtala Muhammed Airport in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria, was named after Murtala Ramat Mohammed, the former Nigerian military head of state. More than four million travelers pass through the airport each year. There is no Web site for the airport.

Road: Taxis are the easiest and safest way to travel from the airport to the city. Choose one of the yellow taxis outside the terminal (upstairs, outside the departure lounge), check the driver’s ID, then tell him where you are going and agree on a fee before setting off.

Note: pickpockets and confidence tricksters, some posing as local immigration and other government officials, are common at Murtala Muhammed Airport. Security is not always satisfactory, so be vigilant.
