Airport Overview

Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) is conveniently located just 9 miles (14km) from central Jacksonville, on Florida’s sunny north Atlantic coast.

The airport is easy to navigate as it consists of one terminal with two concourses (A and C). A third concourse is planned for the airport, but will only be operational after 2013. The airport is also used by the Florida Air National Guard, so keep an eye out for some impressive military jets.

Jacksonville Airport is used by most North American airlines. Many airports across the United States, such as those in Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Baltimore, Chicago, Washington and New York are connected to Jacksonville International Airport.

With loads of shops and eateries, there’s always a lot to do at the airport. Jacksonville International Airport even has an art gallery and live music performances during peak travel seasons. It’s the perfect gateway to the sun-kissed beaches of northern Florida.

Getting into Town

Taxi: Taxis are available outside the terminal. Gator City Taxi is the official taxi company servicing the airport. Taxi fares into town generally cost between $25 and $30.

Bus: Public buses operated by the Jacksonville Transit Authority (JTA) connect the airport to downtown Jacksonville. AirJTA, also known as the CT3 route is the bus route in operation between the airport and downtown Jacksonville. AirJTA operates throughout the week between 6.10am and 9.10pm; weekend buses are slightly less frequent. Bus fares start at $1 and passengers will need the exact amount when paying on the bus. The bus stop is located outside arrivals on the lower level of the terminal. There are also many private shuttle companies available.

Car Parking

Jacksonville has six different parking options. The hourly garage and valet parking are located adjacent to the terminal. Valet parking costs $22 per day and the hourly car park is $18 per day. Next to the hourly garage is the daily garage; rates are $1.50 per half hour or $14 per day. The surface daily car park is just beyond the daily garage; it costs $8 per day. The economy car parks one and two are connected to the airport via a free shuttle service and cost $4 per day. Economy car park three has a flat rate of $20, but it is only available seasonally. A cellphone car park is available for pick-ups.

Information Desks

The airport’s information desk is located on the lower level. The staff are always willing to give visitors advice and a taste of good old-fashioned southern hospitality. The information desk is open daily from 9am until 10pm.
