To / from the airport: Aberdeen and Inverness train services run from the local station at Dyce, which is just a short taxi ride from the airport. The main line station is in Aberdeen city center where there are frequent services to all parts of Scotland and England. Regular bus services operate from the airport to Aberdeen city center for around £1.30. Services are less frequent at weekends than on weekdays.

Facilities: Facilities include left luggage, a bureau de change, bars, a duty free shop, business facilities, play area and a restaurant. Parking: Long and short-term parking is available. Long-term car parking can be booked via the airport Web site or on arrival at the airport.

Aeroporto da Portela de Sacavem

To / from the airport:: Carris buses run from the airport to the city and the main railway stations. A special 'Aerobus' departs to the city center every 20 minutes during the day. Taxi services to the city are available, with a 20% surcharge between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., on weekends and on holidays.

Alicante

Alicante Airport (ALC):www.aal.com.au is located 7 miles south of Alicante.

To / from the airport: Taxi: Taxis are available at the airport (journey time to Alicante: 15-20 minutes). The taxi rank is situated in front of the Arrivals hall. Bus: Scheduled buses run every hour to/from Alicante central bus station. Other services run to Benidorm and Murcia. All buses depart from opposite the Arrivals hall.

Facilities:Money and communications: Facilities include bureau de change, ATMs and a post office. Eating and drinking: There are bars and restaurants, a fast-food outlet, an ice cream parlor and a cafeteria. Eight cafés and four restaurants are located in the Costa Blanca Plaza, the airport shopping and entertainment center. Shopping: Shops include newsagents, tobacconists, gift and jewelry shops, a music store, cake shop, sports and shoe shops, CD and video store, and three duty-free shops. Luggage: There are lost property offices on the ground floor. There is no left-luggage facility at the airport. Other facilities: There is a 24-hour first aid service and a pharmacy.

Arlanda

Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN):www.arlanda.com is located 27 miles north of Stockholm.

To / from the airport: The airport has three railway stations: one (under SkyCity) for long-distance destinations including Trondheim and Göteborg, and two (one under Terminal 5 and one with exits to Terminals 2, 3 and 4) for frequent express trains to Stockholm. Taxis run from directly outside the terminals. Buses run to Stockholm City.

Facilities:Duty-free shops, car rental, banks, bureau de change, children's play area, lost luggage and restaurant/bar.

Barajas

Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD):www.aena.es is located 8 miles from the city.

To / from the airport: The airport is served by regular buses, the metro system and taxis. The airport bus connects to the Plaza de Colon, departing from the Arrivals level of each terminal every 15 minutes day and night. Trains run daily, linking to the city and stations connected to the main rail network. There are official taxi stands outside each terminal, and visitors are advised to use these rather than unofficial taxis. Journey time to the city center is around half an hour.

Facilities: Facilities at the airport include banks, currency exchange, ATMs, shops, restaurants and bars, chapels, business centers, a post office and pharmacies. The new Terminal 4 has a Turkish bath, and foot spa and hydro-massage area. Disabled facilities are good; those with special needs should contact their airline or travel agent in advance.

Barcelona Intl

El Prat Barcelona Airport (BCN):www.aena.es is located seven miles southwest of central Barcelona.

To / from the airport: The Aerobus service goes to and from Placa de Catalunya every 15 minutes, dropping off at locations along the way. It is a good option for those with little luggage. Trains run from the airport to various stations in the city center every 30 minutes, costing around €2.40; the airport station is located near Terminal A and is connected to the terminal by a moving walkway. There are taxi ranks outside the airport terminals; taxis are metered. The journey time by road or rail is between 20 and 30 minutes.

Facilities: Facilities at the airport include ATMs, currency exchange facilities, banks, shops (including duty free), a children's play area, wireless Internet access, VIP lounges, bars and restaurants. Disabled facilities are good; those with special needs should contact their airline in advance.
