Airport Overview
Moscow Domodedovo Airport (DME) is located 26 miles (42km) from central Moscow. It serves the area alongside the depressing Sheremetyevo International Airport, offering passengers a modern and much more cheerful entry point to the proud culture and history of Russia.
Processing more than 22 million passengers each year, flights to Moscow Domodedovo Airport come from all over the world, including major cities such as London, Cairo, Hong Kong, Madrid, Athens, Berlin, Vienna, Dubai, Tokyo, Barcelona, Houston, Singapore, Lisbon, Washington DC, Tel Aviv and Doha.
The airport also serves a number of domestic routes, and many passengers pass a few hours here on their way to St Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Krasnoyarsk and other Russian cities. The huge numbers of passengers in a relatively small facility mean long queues are a common experience.
In early 2011 Moscow Domodedovo Airport was hit by a terrorist attack, so security has been much tighter ever since. It’s best to leave plenty of extra time for delays when catching a flight from the airport.
Terminal Transfer
The terminals are close together and you’ll be able to walk between them easily, however you’ll need to go through security on the way so allow enough time for that.
Getting into Town
Train: The Aeroexpress is a comfortable high-speed train that travels non-stop between downtown Moscow (Paveletsky Station) and the airport. The trip takes about 40-50 minutes and costs RUB 320. There is also a commuter train that travels the same route with various stops along the way. It takes a little over an hour to get into Moscow.
Bus: There are non-stop express buses into Moscow departing every 15 minutes between 6am and midnight. They take 25-30 minutes to get into town and cost RUB 100.
Taxi: There are two kinds of taxis available at the airport: standard taxis, and luxury taxis (which are basically just nicer cars). A standard fare into central Moscow is RUB 1,700 for a standard cab and RUB 2,000 for a high-end ride. Fares vary to other areas. Taxis can be booked from desks in the arrivals halls and you can pay in cash or with a credit card.
Car Parking
There is short- and long-term parking available at the airport. Short-term car park No. 1 charges RUB 50 per 20 minutes for the first two hours, RUB 50 per 30 minutes for the third to sixth hours, with a flat daily rate of RUB 800 for over six hours. Short-term parking No. 3 charges RUB 120 per hour with a daily limit of RUB 800. Short-term lot No. 5 charges RUB 100 per hour with the same limit. Long-term lot No. 4 is RUB 500 per day, and long-term car park No. 8 is RUB 350 per day for Airhotel customers and is connected by a free shuttle to the terminal.

There are electronic information kiosks scattered throughout the terminal.
Airport Facilities
Money and communications: There is a post office, phone and email facilities in the airport, and currency exchange facilities and ATMs.
Luggage: There are luggage-wrapping services starting at RUB 200 in the VIP lounge and the Paveletskiy railway station terminal. There is a luggage storage office on the underground level, starting at RUB 190 per day. Free luggage trolleys are available as well.
Conference and business: There are 11 business lounges throughout the airport, offering business services like Wi-Fi access, television, printer and fax machines, copy facilities, catering and conference rooms. Most are operated by individual airlines, but the domestic departures lounge is available to all passengers for a fee of €60 payable in rubles – 2,500 rubles. The Beeline Wi-Fi Internet Center on the second floor also offers business services such as printing, copying, scanning and PC rental.
Other facilities: VIP lounges, nursery rooms, a chapel and mosque, smoking areas, a DVD movie theater, a tourist center, medical services, police station, and handicapped services.
Wi-Fi: There are a few Wi-Fi hotspots in the airport, including Foster’s Bar, Butterfly Bar, Aerobar, Asia Cafe, B2B Cafe, and Snack Bar. Service is provided by Beeline and you must purchase a card from the Internet Center.
Shopping: Shops at Moscow Domodedovo Airport offer everything from Russian Orthodox icons and nesting dolls to mp3 players and cell phones. While there are no international luxury brands, you’ll find clothing and accessories, jewelryand perfume, and duty-free shopping. For a unique souvenir, try any of the more than 300 beautifully packaged blends of tea or coffee at Mlesna tea shop.
Food and drink: Dining options at the airport are varied. Fast-food restaurants include Sbarro’s (Italian and Kroshka-Kartoshka (Russian), while sit-down restaurants range from Indian (Paprika) and Japanese (Asia Cafe) to Italian (Benvenuti) to Russian (Elki-Palki Express) and Uzbekistani (Uzbecha). There are also a few cafes selling sandwiches and coffees, and if you need something stronger head to Foster’s Bar or Shannon’s Irish Bar.
