Getting into Town

Rail: The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) (tel: 312 836 7000) Orange Line serves the southwest side of Chicago and connects the airport with downtown Chicago. Travel time between downtown Chicago and the airport is around 30 minutes.

Road: A ground transportation information booth is located on the lower level. Ground transportation information is also available on 773 838 0756.

Taxi: Bus, taxi and limousine pick-up areas are located on the lower level in front of the terminal building. Shared ride services are also available. There are no flat rates; all taxicabs run on meters. Taxi vans are also available.

Shuttle: Continental Airport Express (tel: 888 284 3826) offers daily shuttle service between Midway, downtown Chicago and south suburban locations. Omega Airport Shuttle (tel: 773 483 6634) provides regular transport between O'Hare International and Midway airports.

Bus: Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (tel: 803 255 7100) operates bus services between the airport and the city.

Car Parking

Hourly parking is available on level 3 of the airport parking garage. Daily parking is available on levels 1, 4, 5 and 6. Travelers can access the terminal building from the garage on levels 1, 3 and 4. A cell phone lot for motorists waiting to meet arriving passengers is also available. Economy lots are located on 55th Street, and a remote parking lot can be found at 72nd Street and Cicero Street. A regular shuttle service is available at all economy and remote parking lots. Information Desks

Information booths are located on the upper level ticketing and lower level baggage areas in the terminal building. Information representatives assist passengers and visitors with airport directions and general service assistance.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: ATMs are located throughout the terminal. Currency exchange is available in concourse A. Coin and credit card-operated telephones are located throughout the terminal and concourse buildings. Public telephones with Internet connections are also available in all concourses. Wi-Fi access is available throughout Midway passenger areas.

Eating and drinking: Midway's Concession's Triangle offers a unique selection of ethnic cuisine representing Chicago's rich cultural diversity. There are more than 20 different restaurants, cafés, snack bars and bars.

Shopping: There are several retail options at the airport including newsstands, gift shops, a music shop, a golf shop and a toy shop.

Luggage: Items lost in the public areas of the airport are handled by the Chicago Police Department (tel: 773 838 3003), which can be found in concourse C.

Other facilities: The Midway Airport Interfaith Chapel is located on the Mezzanine Level in concourse C. Automated External Defibrillators (AED) are housed in cabinets linked to the City of Chicago's Emergency Medical Services and are located throughout the airport. Follow the heart symbol on overhead signs to find the closest AED.

Four Points by Sheraton (tel: 773 581 5300), Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites (tel: 708 458 0202), Marriott (tel: 708 594 5500), Hilton Garden Inn (tel: 708 496 2700) and Fairfield Inn and Suites (tel: 708 594 0090) are all located near the airport and offer shuttle services.

Airport Disabled Facilities

The airport is equipped with ADA-friendly features. Elevators are located throughout the passenger terminal and parking complex. All restaurant and restroom entrances are accessible to wheelchair users. For hearing-impaired travellers, TTY telephones are available. There are designated pick-up and drop-off areas on the upper and lower levels of the terminal roadway for disabled travelers. Designated parking spaces are located near each elevator in the Midway Airport Parking Garage. Passengers should use the elevators to access the pedestrian bridge to the terminal building on the third floor. Designated parking spaces in the economy lots are located near the entrance of each lot. Free shuttle buses, equipped with wheelchair lifts, provide transportation between the economy lots and the terminal.

There are currently no business facilities at the airport, but there are plans to install stations for computer users to recharge their laptops.

Directions

From downtown Chicago, head southwest on I-55 (Stevenson Expressway north) for 5 miles (8km). Take the IL-50 exit 286 and go straight south on IL-50 to the airport.

Car Rentals

Rental car company counters are located on the lower level of the terminal building near baggage claim. Rental car pick-up and drop-off is located on level 2 of the airport's parking garage. The following rental car companies operate at the airport: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty.
