Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is located five miles (8km) southeast of the Central Business District of Austin, Texas.

The bright and breezy facility embodies Austin’s laid-back nature, from the architecture – clean, open and full of natural light – to the local, friendly atmosphere. Visitors are often surprised by the live music stage, which showcases Austin’s diverse music scene, in the middle of the terminal. There are often up to a dozen performances per week as part of the Music in the Air initiative.

The small size of the airport makes it very easy to navigate and visitors are always pleased to find the airport spotless and well-manned with friendly, approachable staff, making flights from and to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport a pleasure. Getting into Town

Bus: Bus route No. 350 connects the airport to much of North Austin with easy transfers to other parts of the city. The Airport flier also departs every 30-40 minutes to the Downtown MetroRail Station. Fares are $1.

Taxi: Taxis are available curbside on the baggage claim level and cost around $40 to get to town. Super Shuttle provides transportation to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport 24 hours a day, every day. At the airport, follow the signs from the baggage claim area to the Super Shuttle ticket counter located near baggage carousel one. You can purchase your shuttle ticket here.  Tickets will set you back $26 one-way or$46 round trip.

Car Parking

Airport parking is conveniently located directly across from the terminal. The Airport Parking Garage rate is $20 per day, tax included. If you feel you deserve a little VIP treatment, give the valet parking a go. Simply pull up to the airport terminal upper level curb and leave your car with the attendant. Only $22.17 plus state sales tax per day.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: There are two ATMs and currency exchange facilities in the terminal, and postal boxes. Free internet access kiosks are accessible at gates 5, 8, 11, 15, 21 and in baggage claim.

Luggage: There is a lost-and-found located near the baggage claim. Baggage carts are available in the claim area for your convenience.

Conference and business: American Airlines’ Admirals Club and Business Center has two conference rooms available, and provides members with business facilities, including seating for up to 150 people, fax machine, photocopier, computer and printer, and computer ports for laptops. If your needs are greater, look into the Hilton Austin Airport, which offers business and conference facilities, with 18 meeting rooms available, including a ballroom that can accommodate up to 800 people and a fully equipped business center.

Other facilities: Amenities to look for at Austin Bergstrom include shoe shines, a first aid station, dog walking area and VIP lounges.

Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport. Passengers are allowed one complimentary Wi-Fi session every 24 hours. If your internet needs are greater, a paid-for service is available at a rate of $4.95 for one hour or $7.95 for a day pass.

Shopping: Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has done a fantastic job of keeping things personal in this intimate airport. Retail and dining has much more of a local proprietor feel, than of a strip mall full of chain stores. Barton Springs Dry Goods is fantastic for a taste of the area, and University of Texas garb is available from the Longhorn Limited Specialty Store.

Food and drink: Austin-Bergstrom International Airport offers something to tickle all fancies, and food and drink are available within a short distance of all gates. The airport’s great atmosphere is fostered by the ample presence of local eateries, including Austin favorites Salt Lick, Austin Java, Maudies and Mangia Pizza. Despite the variety of eating options available, frequent visitors have found the dining options to be a little on the pricey side – but then again, it wouldn’t be an airport if it wasn’t.

The airport can be reached from Highway 71, which leads southeast from Austin, off the I-183 and 6 miles (10km) south of IH-35.
