Continental Airlines is based in Houston and is the fourth largest airline in the U.S. From its hubs at Houston-Bush, Newark, and Cleveland, Continental flies to destinations throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Continental has partnerships with Northwest Airlines, KLM, and Delta Air Lines.

Check-in

For domestic flights, baggage must be checked at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure. For international flights, baggage must be checked at least 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure.

Baggage

Carry-on: One bag with the maximum dimension of 51inear in (length + width + height) and maximum weight of 40lbs. On domestic flights you can also carry a personal item such as a briefcase, purse or laptop.

Checked: Two checked bags are permitted per passenger, each with maximum weight of 50lbs and dimensions of 62 linear in.

Excess: Excess baggage rates vary by destination. The cost for extra bags ranges from $80 to $100 per piece. For overweight or oversized bags the cost ranges from $25 to $100 per piece. Check with the airline before you travel.

Passenger Change Details

The Manage Reservations page on Continental’s Web site can be used to review reservations, view or change seat assignments, add frequent flyer information, add a special service request, request a refund, change flights, or print a copy of the reservation.

Child Fares

Infants under the age two fly for free on the lap of a parent or an adult 18 years or older. If there are two or more children under two years of age traveling with the same passenger, only one of the children may travel as a lap child. Any additional children under two years are required to have a ticket and pay the applicable children's fare. Infants who are carried in an adult's lap do not require a ticket for domestic travel. An infant ticket is required for international travel. International taxes will be collected for all destinations outside of the 50 States. Children over two years old are required to purchase a ticket and occupy a customer seat with a separate seat belt.

Senior Fares

Available to selected destinations for passengers 65 and older. Ask for more details on these fares when you make your reservation, or when you make your booking on the website, select the Seniors (age 65 and older) category.

Pets

Continental allows domesticated cats, dogs, rabbits, and birds to be carried in the aircraft cabin on all U.S. domestic flights (except to/from Hawaii). An in-cabin pet may be carried in lieu of a carry-on bag and is subject to an $95 service charge each way ($190 for round-trip travel). Pets can be booked online or by calling Continental reservations.

Carrying Musical Instruments

Musical instruments can be carried on board or checked as baggage. A seat can also be purchased for an instrument or an instrument can be carried in place of a carry-on bag. The maximum dimension is 51 linear in with a maximum weight of 40lbs.

In-flight Service

Beverages are served on all flights. Snacks are offered in economy class on flights after 10am. On flights over two hours beverages and a complimentary meal or snack are offered on segments during appropriate meal or snack periods. On flights between two and three and a half hours beverages and a cold breakfast snack will be offered for breakfast. A fresh cold sandwich snack will be offered for lunch and dinner. On flights over three and a half hours beverages and a snack basket containing cold breakfast items will be offered for breakfast. A fresh hot sandwich snack basket will be offered for lunch or dinner.
