Carry-on: Two items are permitted, each with a maximum weight of 22lbs. Maximum dimensions are 9 x 15.5 x 21.5 in for the standard item and 6 x 13 x 17 in for the personal item. Personal items can include carry-on suitcases (wheels and handles included in the size), briefcases, laptop computers, diaper bags, camera cases, cartons or other similar items.
Checked: Varies according to class. Economy: two items permitted, each with maximum weight of 50lbs and dimensions of 62 linear inches (length + depth + width). Executive Class and Executive First: three items permitted, each with maximum weight of 70lbs, and dimensions of 62 linear inches. The total weight of all three items not to exceed 150 lbs. Air Canada Elite and Super Elite: four items, each with maximum weight of 70lbs and dimensions of 62 linear inches. The total weight of all four items not to exceed 200lbs. Premium Economy Class, International: two items permitted, each with maximum weight of 50lbs and dimensions of 62 linear inches.
Excess: fees will be charged for all oversized, overweight or extra items. For oversized and overweight bags there is a charge of $50 CAD per bag for travel within North America or $75 CAD for travel internationally. For extra bags, there is a charge of $125 CAD per bag for travel within Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, or $225 CAD per bag to all other destinations.

Changes can be made as long as the ticket purchased was not a non-refundable ticket. Charges will apply. If you are traveling on a non-refundable ticket, Air Canada will be unable to make exceptions in the event of an unexpected trip cancellation or medical emergency so the airline recommends the purchase of travel insurance.

Children under two years travel for free when seated on an adult's lap on domestic flights (the adult must be over 16). Only one child is allowed per adult. If one adult is traveling with more than one infant under two, a seat must be purchased for each additional infant, at full adult cost. Children under two years traveling internationally on an adult's lap pay 10 per cent of the adult fare.

Air Canada used to carry pets in the cabin, but discontinued this service in 2006. Pets are now only allowed to travel in the hold, during the summer months (March 31 to November 1) and not if the outside temperature is expected to fall below zero. Pets must travel in containers (which can be purchased from Air Canada online) and must be booked on the flight by calling the reservations number at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. No pet weighing more than 70lbs will be accepted. No birds are accepted.Guide dogs are carried in the cabin free of charge.
