Self-check in kiosks, known as I-SCM (International Self Check-in Machines) are available at a number of airports: Narita, Kansai, Haneda, Nagoya, Gimpo and London Heathrow. The kiosks can be used by passengers with hand luggage only or by passengers checking luggage. Otherwise, check-in at the airport desk. Closing times vary by destination and departure airport.

Carry-on: One bag with maximum total dimensions of 45in (length + height + width), weight 22lbs.
Checked: Maximum weight of 44lbs.
Excess: Charges apply and vary according to the cost of the ticket for the flight being undertaken. There will be a charge made of 1.5 per cent "of the highest normal direct adult one way economy class fare in effect on the date of issuance of an excess Baggage ticket".

Child fares apply to children between the ages of two and eleven and are 75 per cent of adult fare. Infants (up to 23 months) traveling on an adult’s lap pay infant fare. JAL will accept unaccompanied children over five.

Pets will be carried in the cabin, in the hold or as cargo, dependent on the type of animal and weight. Contact the airline in advance to arrange the transportation of pets.

Meals for babies and children are available along with other services.JAL’s onboard entertainment system, called MAGIC, features multiple movies, active airplane stats, games, credit card phone and more. On some flights, MAGIC provides Audio/Video On Demand (AVOD) entertainment, including a duty-free shopping catalog.
